Paul Langford

I am a professional rider based in the northeast of England. Having grown up working on a Breaking and Schooling yard for riding and carriage driving, and with horses being a big part of the family, it was probably inevitable that I was going to work with horses. After passing my BHS Stage 3 at 17, I left Sixth Form College to go to university; studying Business & Management for four years at Aston Business School. It was during my second year that I received a call from Lesley Perry inviting me for an interview for a riding job. Her daughter, successful dressage rider Anne Marie Perry was the one that gave me the dressage bug, and sparked my interest in the discipline. Juggling university in Birmingham, and working with Annie in Teesside over the following two years was hard, but I learned so much over that period, and am so grateful to have had that opportunity.

During my time at Perry’s I was approached by 3 day Event rider James Adams, to help him work and produce his event horses. This opened so many doors for me, and since graduating from university, I have been able to concentrate full time on riding, teaching and training, and to make this my career – which I love.

2009 has been an amazing year for me; achieving a 2:1 (hons) from Aston Business School, my BHSAI, and both BHS Stage 4 Riding and Care, as well as growing my business. I’m supported by brilliant owners, and am fortunate to have acquired my knowledge and experience from top yards and respected professionals, which I am able to pass on to my horses and my clients. I hope to continue to work and train under Anne Marie and her team, to be successful, and to be the very best that I can be.
